This post is written by Douglas Brown at http://www.dabcc.com/ ... I am sure many people hope Doug does not come up with this app. Companies would buy this up like mad!

I must ask, who are these people who have time for all this? How is this making our lives “easier”? It is NOT, it is wasting tons of people’s time. Heck, I read once that an average employee spends over 10% of their day on Facebook. Really? Wow, I would want my money back if I was the boss. But that is not all. Add the amount of time a person Twitters, IMs, and now Google Waves. (Is that what you call it? I’m waving at you. “Look at me, I’m special.” Now please will someone gag me with a spoon?)   I bet an average employee does not even work 50% of their day due to these “time saves”.  What a joke.   Get to work and use E-Mail people... Don’t call me either, E-MAIL ME! (dbrown@dabcc.com) that is the best way to get ahold of me as I’ve been using E-Mail for a LONG, LONG time and it WORKS. I don’t need a new client Biz or Google guys.

Just a word to the wise, nobody better leave a comment saying, “but you can be notified on new messages via E-Mail”   Then why do I need Twitter and Facebook? I have E-MAIL and you are telling me to use E-MAIL to stay up to date with competitors to E-MAIL…. Really? No you are not, you better not.

Also, nobody better leave a comment telling me that it is so simple on a cell phone because SO IS E-MAIL…. Nothing beats it people… NOTHING…

I think we should also look at the people who do tweet, use Facebook, and IM all the time as people that need more work added to their plate vs. thinking they are the ones that know it all. How could they if they spend half their day on social networks? Not possible unless at night all they do is study and the rest of the work they blew off during the day while “Twittering”.    I think I need to develop a simple app that monitors your current, in focus, app to see if it is Twitter, IM, Facebook, and/or Google Wave, and then when it realizes one of those clients are “in focus” it starts / continues adding to a timer which counts the total time someone is running those wasteful clients and then sends an E-Mail to their boss with the grand total of wasted time each and every day. I bet you would see a lot less Twitter and Facebook usage!!!   Good... That is what we need. Get back to E-Mail and work people and stop sending crap in 140 chars. It is driving me batty, can you tell?

Oh, one last thing – the only people who really need Twitter, Facebook, and other social networks are the marketers. So you are being marketed to and don’t even know it, or you do and just don’t care. One of the two.   For the rest, I think I already said what I think. You need more work.
